I love color!  The beauty of nature is overwhelming!  I believe that Black&White is the foundation of truths in life, therefore line is very important to me, but color relates to the moment, to the emotions found in one's existence. After moving back to Montana, I am now sincerely living in the moment, and I want to incorporate that into my work.

The vast lands and big skies of Montana have again opened my eyes to nature, appreciating the freedom of my environment. My love of nature is represented through my selection of imagery and colors. I travel as often as I can to immerse myself in such environments, to experience those colors and images first hand.  My mixed media and oil paintings are interpretations of the relationships between man and nature, man's immersion into nature to find truths.  As a child, I spent considerable time "memorizing" pockets of beauty found in Charley Creek, Montana. I now portray these childhood memories through my expressions of skies, earth, wind, water, and fire. My current chosen mediums include oil painting (both plein air and studio), oil sticks and cattle markers, and encaustics, and sometimes a mix of all three.

OIL PAINTING and ENCAUSTICS: Oil, oil stick, cattle marker, and encaustic paintings depict colorful skies, storms, sunsets, and landscapes. I try to express the "essence" of the sky, land, water, etc., not just the imagery. That essence is what touches the soul! I start many of my works en plain air, then continue in the studio.  I also find Plein AIr Invitationals very exciting ... and, being a social person, another reason to travel, meet new people, visit with other artists, and see the world through their eyes as we view each others' works.

INSTALLATIONS: Each major 2000 sq.ft. interactive installation project deals with knowledge, access and/or barriers to knowledge (self-made barriers, political barriers, language barriers, racial barriers, etc.), and the growth of society as a result of overcoming those barriers and sharing and processing that knowledge.
