Digitally-enhanced images of popular TV personalities were projected two in each gallery, with viewers encouraged to explore, and hopefully to recognize, various biases within themselves while engaged with the images and with the other gallery viewer via instant replays combining both galleries, revealing personal reactions to message givers.

“THE MESSAGE GIVER”S is an interactive environmental installation dealing with spatial awareness and personal reactions to male and/or female message givers in the media while interacting with others in the accompanying gallery space. Images were created using prints of people in the headlines throughout the year. These images were digitized, altered with Adobe Photoshop, photographed again as slides, and then the slides are projected, two at a time, onto two 8’x20’walls, one wall of each gallery. Infra-red movement detectors change slides on the left side of both gallery spaces when a viewer moves within the left gallery. Similarly, the right side gallery viewer changes images on the right sides of both gallery spaces with their movement. Instant video replays onto two adjacent monitors (two in each space) replay the viewers’ movements and allow those viewers to decide to “follow, lead, or confuse” the accompanying viewer. “THE MESSAGE GIVERS” allows the viewer to explore, and hopefully to recognize, various biases within him/herself concerning male and/or female message givers as well as the propensity of oneself to share decision making with others.
